The new-age Audi A5 is the latest car from the German car manufacturer to be launched in India this year. Positioned between the A4 and A6 versions, the A5 is likely to be available in the Cabriolet, Sportback, and Coupe forms. Designed by Walter de’Silva, an Italian engineer, this sedan made its debut way back in 2008 and is still considered as a work of art. The ‘limited availability’ models are expected to be launched in India at the end of 2017.
The car shares its platform designs with the Avant and A4 saloon and is a member of Volkswagen’s B platform series of cars. It looks similar to the traditional coupe and has a traditional feel to it. The Cabriolet, the open air version of the coupe, has extremely stylish interiors on offer. The Sportback dons an elegant design and accentuated wheels. The upgraded A5 version will sport LED lights, but will look more or less like the original one designed by de’ Silva.
The interiors of all the three forms of A5 offer a luxurious feel, especially the Cabriolet, owing to its ample legroom and headroom. Climate control makes the driver feel comfortable, while the gear shifter makes for a smooth ride. The Audi Concert Audio System offers high quality sound output.
Performance & Safety
With an all-wheel drive, the car is said to render an exceptional performance. The sedan will offer both the petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol variants will have a 2.0 litre TFSI engine with a power of 180 PS and a torque of 320Nm. The petrol engines of the Audi A5 use FSI direct injection technology. The convertible and coupe forms use a four cylinder 220hp engine with a six and eight speed manual and automatic power respectively. The Sportback, on the other hand, comes with a 2.0 litre turbo four cylinder engine offering 252 horse power and a 7-speed automatic dual clutch. For safety, the car comes outfitted with ESP, rear and front fog lights, halogen day lights, and front side air bags.
